What a great blogpost... but i see you really like to help others, then why dont you start your own support group here on Trannyspace? There are lots of options to make it a realy nice group and you can make it fun if you know how to use HTML and such...

I wish you a lot of luck on your mission and thanks again for the compliments for my site...

This is how we can make the Trans Community a better place, by getting involved. Apathy is what keeps us from achieving our goals. There is nothing to be gained by elitism or superiority. We are all equal in rights and responsibilities. I believe that it is my responsibility as a full time trans person to mentor the part time group. Some wish to move on to full time, while others are content to remain part time. I also believe that it is the responsibility of employed transfolk part time or full time to work to assist others to accomplish the same. My employer is a VERY trans friendly company, and I am paving the way for more of us to work there by providing more and greater service and profit than the average. I work harder, faster and more efficiently than most. It is my purpose to be the best at what I do and to strive for greatness. This and being certain to always be upbeat, positive and success minded are all ways that we can not only ensure our own success but leave a positive impression of the Trans people as potential employees.

Everywhere that we go we will either make people think better or worse of us. It is up to us to create a positive image of our community. We are our own best and worst ambassadors. Lets be the best that we can be. This belief of Lisa's in helping others is EXACTLY what will show the world that we ARE the kind of people that they will want to have in their companies and workplaces. THIS is how we will change the world.

Dear Kelli-ann: I have used Herbs and Natural food supplements for decades and have not seen enough results from them alone to not use synthetic hormones as well. Even to this date I wonder if the herbs and natural foods are having any effect at all. I use Natural Progesterone Creams twice a day, I eat Soy almost daily, as well as Anise. I use Soybean Oil for cooking also. But without synthetics I had not gotten the desired results and even with Synthetics it took years to obtain them. This and other information is extremely well documented online so there is not a whole lot of reason to totally regurgitate it all. However a few quick hits: Topical applications of synthetics bypass the liver by being absorbed directly into the skin and then into the bloodstream. Since some of my HRT meds (Spiro) are oral, I try to minimize how much I ingest so that liver damage is kept to a minimum. Also I find that taking topical estrogen(s) I get far greater results with a far lesser dosage.

Here is how:
There are 3 types of synthetic Estrogen that I have taken and used and knowledgeable on.
Estradiol Valerate which is absorbed quickly and dissipates quickly. Orally this stuff has not had the effects of Ethyniol (more on that in a moment).

Premarin (pregnant horse urine). This stuff is absorbed slower but has longer acting effect than Estradiol. I was more impressed with it than I was with Estradiol, but not as impressed as I was with Ethyniol (next).

Ethyniol is the slowest and longest acting estrogen that I know of. On me its effects are amazing. However my understanding is that the risks of side effects are also greater. So powerful is this stuff that it is prescribed in MICROGRAMS, not Milligrams like the other two.

My endo has had a wise strategy of rotating my Estrogens every couple of years, since ALL of these have proven to have the potential side effects of blood clotting and breast cancer. You need to read up not only on the hormones but breast cancer and blood clotting as well. But back to estrogens for a moment.

I started out taking Estradiol and Ethyniol both for the first 3 years. Estradiol gave me a quick boost and the Ethyniol built up. My Endo prescribed me liquid Ethyniol drops and prescribed two drops per day, but every time that I took more than one I got the worst headaches. SO I listened to my body and took half what he prescribed. I was SOOO delighted with the results. After 3 years we switched to Premarin, and since I had already had nice development I took about 1/4 of his reccomended dosage, in part because Premarin is expensive. THis may attribute part of my thinking that it wasnt as effective, or the fact that I had already gotten the first 3 years up and was more or less on a maintenance dosage. (My hunni was instrumental in reducing my hormone intake since she controls the money in our home). Once my income increased last year, I started a new position, I was FINALLY able to afford what my endo had been pushing for all along: TOPICAL estrogens. They cost more but have more effect and far fewer side effects. Basically they are a weak Estradiol Gel but I have been delighted and amazed at how little that I take and how much new growth that I am experiencing. And unlike Ethyniol which takes months to see results, this stuff worked FAST. My nipples have been sore and my bosom is swelling up even bigger than before, and this is after a half dozen years on HRT, and during a period of my losing weight due to my new position requiring much more physical work than my last one. (My last job was desk job doing tech support and programming for AV installs, this job, I am doing the AV Installs).

Anyways, I have to get to work and running out of time, So I have to cut short, could go on and on. But one last thought about Hormones in general.
Estrogens cause breast tissue growth, which we all desire. However breast tissue causes cancer. It is a double sided sword for women too. Something to be aware of. Do Self exams, catch it early, and that way dont lose your breast.

Lastly: Estrogens cause thickening of the blood which can lead to clots. Clots can cause loss of limbs, appendages, or your life. Can cause heart attack, stroke, and other nasty problems. Smoking causes thickening of the blood as does cholesterol which comes from fatty and greasy foods. One of these alone might not put you at risk for a clot with proper diet and exercise, but estrogens tend to make weight gain a side effect. PLEASE do not allow this weight to reside on your tummy. You might survive ONE of these contributing factors (HRT) but having 2 or more in your life is just pure suicide. EVERY estrogen tells you this right on the warning portion of the label. Read read read, but Heed what it says. Dont be another statistic, my fireplace mantel is full of urns from TG friends who didnt think that they would be the one to die, and I have known more TG who died because of clots than all other "normal" people combined over my lifetime. Please take this seriously, we have an extremely high death/attrition rate due to violence and medical complications. We are a better community with all of us around!
